Finding My Center: My Virtual Spiritual Journey Through Quarantine

As a craft and DIY enthusiast, I find solace in working with my hands, creating tangible objects of beauty and utility. But with the arrival of the pandemic, even the most dedicated crafter’s world was turned upside down. Like many of you, I found myself confined to the four walls of my home, grappling with a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainty. The pandemic forced us all to confront the fragility of life and the importance of mental well-being. This period of introspection led me on an unexpected journey— a deep dive into the world of virtual spiritual wellness.

Embracing the Unknown: My Foray into Virtual Spirituality

While I’ve always been drawn to the mystical and unknown, I’d never really explored spirituality as a form of self-care. Yet, as the weeks of lockdown turned into months, I felt an increasing need to find my footing, to reconnect with myself amidst the chaos.

This internal yearning led me to explore various practices, all from the comfort of my home:

  • Tea leaf readings: I had my tea leaves read virtually by two Salem witches, Sandra Mariah Wright and Leanne Marrama, authors of “Reading the Leaves: An Intuitive Guide to the Ancient Art and Modern Magic of Tea Leaf Divination.” The experience was surprisingly calming, offering insights into my personal growth and the importance of self-care during uncertain times.
  • Aura cleansing and healing: I connected with Nicole Batista, DACM, a licensed acupuncturist and founder of Contemporary Mystic Medicine, for a virtual aura cleansing and healing session. While I initially struggled to connect with the visualization exercises, the underlying message of stepping into my power resonated deeply.
  • Birth chart reading: Renowned astrologer Lisa Stardust, whom I frequently consult for my writing, offered a personalized birth chart reading. Through this insightful experience, I gained a deeper understanding of my strengths, weaknesses, and potential paths for growth.
  • Psychic reading: Skeptical yet curious, I had my first psychic reading with Live the Light, a certified psychic medium on Keen.com. The reading provided unexpected validation and reassurance, encouraging me to embrace flexibility, intuition, and go with the flow.
  • Hypnotherapy: Intrigued by videos of street hypnotism, I explored virtual hypnotherapy sessions, first with Magdalena Kalley and later with Kristen Harrington, MA, LMFT. These sessions proved surprisingly relaxing and helped me to confront and process some of my anxieties.

The Transformative Power of Inner Exploration

My spiritual journey wasn’t about finding a magic cure-all but about embracing the unknown and being open to new experiences. It was about taking a proactive approach to my mental well-being during a time when it felt like the world was spinning off its axis.

Not every experience resonated with me equally. Some, like the tea leaf reading, brought immediate comfort and clarity, while others, like the aura cleansing, required more effort and openness on my part. Yet, each experience offered a valuable piece of the puzzle, contributing to my overall sense of self-awareness and resilience.

The Takeaway: Embracing Your Own Spiritual Journey

This period of exploration underscored the profound connection between our minds, bodies, and spirits. It reminded me that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity, especially during challenging times.

If you’re feeling lost or adrift, I encourage you to explore the world of spiritual wellness. Whether it’s trying a virtual yoga class, meditating, connecting with nature, or exploring different spiritual practices, there’s a path for everyone.

Remember, it’s a journey, not a destination. Be patient with yourself, keep an open mind, and trust your intuition.
