Let’s Get Crafting! A Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Preparing the Mold:

Step 2: Choosing and Cutting the Wood:

When selecting your wood slice, look for pieces with interesting grain patterns and bark. Thinner slices around 1 inch thick are easier to work with. Measure and mark the desired size of your wood pieces, ensuring they fit within your mold. Use a table saw or a similar tool to carefully cut the wood into your desired shapes.

Step 3: Arranging the Wood in the Mold:

Place your wood pieces bark-side down in the mold. Experiment with different arrangements to achieve the look you desire. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to do this!

Step 4: Pouring the First Resin Layer:

I prefer to use the belt sander dry, but if your sander allows for wet sanding, it can help minimize dust.
If you notice the resin getting warm, pause and let it cool down to prevent softening.

Step 9: Hand Sanding for a Polished Finish:

Once you’re satisfied with the shape of your pendants, it’s time for hand sanding. This step is crucial for achieving a smooth and polished look. Work your way through the different grits of sandpaper, starting with the coarsest (80 grit) and gradually moving to the finest (2000 grit).

Tip: Wet sanding with the finer grits (800-2000) can help achieve an exceptionally smooth finish.
