Conquering Cycling Goals: One Pedal Stroke at a Time

For two years in a row, my cycling goals gathered dust, ambitious lines drawn across calendars left unfulfilled. The question gnawed at me: should I scale back, or was that admitting defeat before the battle began? This year, doubt transformed into steely determination. I set my sights once more on the seemingly insurmountable: 10,000 kilometers of cycling. And guess what? I smashed it, a whole month early!

The Journey Begins: Embracing the Unexpected

The year 2020 threw everyone a curveball, but even a pandemic couldn’t derail my focus. When lockdown hit Barcelona, I saw it as an opportunity. Armed with my trusty indoor trainer, I transformed my living room into a personal velodrome. One-hour interval sessions in the morning morphed into liberating two-hour rides at night. Sweat became a badge of honor as I clocked an impressive 2,569 kilometers and 95 hours on the indoor trainer alone.

Conquering the Alps: A Cyclist’s Dream

The virtual world gave way to breathtaking reality as I embarked on an epic journey: the Alps Route from Lake Geneva, Switzerland to Nice, France. Six days of pure cycling bliss, with 659 kilometers and 16,382 meters of climbing under my belt. Rain might have stolen one day, but it couldn’t dampen my spirits. Witnessing a Tour de France stage live fueled my passion, and conquering iconic climbs like the Col de la Colombière and Col du Galibier filled me with an indescribable sense of accomplishment.

A New Year’s Eve to Remember: Virtual Everesting

As the year drew to a close, I decided to push my limits further with my first-ever virtual Everesting challenge. 8,902 meters of virtual climbing later, I stood triumphant, my legs screaming, my spirit soaring.
