The Art of Fabric Gift Wrap: A Step-by-Step Guide

At Robert Kline Art, we believe in the magic of handmade. That’s why we send out your orders wrapped in our custom fabric gift wrap. It adds a personal touch and feels extra special. We often receive questions about how we achieve our signature fabric wrap, with many people hesitant to undo the beautiful packaging. So, today, I’m excited to share our secrets with a step-by-step guide to mastering the art of fabric gift wrapping!

Gather Your Supplies:

  • A Square Scarf or Bandana: The perfect size for wrapping small to medium-sized gifts.
  • Your Gift: Whether it’s a handcrafted treasure or a store-bought delight.
  • Ribbon: For that final touch of elegance.

Let’s Get Wrapping!

Step 1: Lay It Out

Spread your bandana or scarf out flat in a diamond shape. This will be your wrapping canvas.

Step 2: Position Your Gift

Place your gift in the center of the fabric. If you’re wrapping a doll or stuffed animal, make sure all its limbs are neatly tucked in. For other gifts, ensure they’re folded as compactly as possible.

Step 3: The Bottom Fold

This step is crucial! Grasp the bottom corner of the fabric and wrap it tightly around your gift. Remember, a tight wrap is key to a successful fabric burrito! Don’t be afraid to pull snugly – your gift can handle it.

Step 4: Side Folds

Next, fold in both sides of the fabric, just like you’re swaddling a baby. Maintain a firm grip and keep that fabric taut. Imagine you’re trying to stretch the fabric patterns (if any) – that’s the level of tightness we’re aiming for.

Step 5: Roll, Roll, Roll!

Now, continue rolling your gift upwards towards the top corner. If you’ve followed the previous steps and maintained a tight wrap, this part should be a breeze!

Step 6: The Finishing Touches

At this stage, you might find some corners peeking out. Don’t worry; simply tuck them in to create a neat and polished look. Feel free to adjust and “zhuzh” the bundle until you’re happy with the appearance. And yes, “zhuzh” is a real word – fascinating, right? It adds a touch of flair and personality to your wrapping.

Step 7: Secure with Ribbon

Finally, use a ribbon to tie everything together. Choose a ribbon that complements your fabric and adds a pop of color. This step not only secures your wrap but also elevates its visual appeal.

Congratulations!

You’ve successfully mastered the art of fabric gift wrapping! This technique isn’t just for dolls; it’s fantastic for presenting all sorts of gifts in a unique and eco-friendly way.
