Hey there, fellow food and craft enthusiasts! Robert Kline here, and I’m excited to share a recent culinary adventure that perfectly blends my love for handmade creations with my passion for healthy and delicious food.

We’re diving into the world of homemade pasta, but not just any pasta – we’re talking about protein-packed, grain-free chia seed pasta! I was already making ravioli and dumplings with my trusty high-protein pumpkin seed flour dough. Still, I had a hunch that its remarkable texture would lend itself beautifully to pasta-making with a machine.

Experimenting with a Pasta Machine

Always up for a challenge, I grabbed a simple pasta machine and got to work. And guess what? My instincts were spot on! The dough effortlessly glided through the machine, rolling out into beautiful sheets. I even managed to achieve the thinnest setting!

Cutting the pasta was a breeze, and I ended up with an endless supply of fettuccine. The best part? It held its shape perfectly, both fresh and dried.

A Feast for the Senses: Taste and Texture

This pasta cooks to a soft, appealing texture in just a few minutes, reminiscent of buckwheat soba. While it does have a slightly oily taste, I found that cooking it in well-seasoned water minimized this. For bolder flavors, I recommend tossing the cooked pasta in a flavorful sauce and simmering for a minute or two.

Pairing Your Pasta with the Perfect Sauce

Speaking of sauces, I created a delicate and flavorful garlic and chili salmon dish with sauteed leeks, red bell peppers, and zucchini. Toasted sesame seeds and chives added a final touch of flavor and visual appeal.

However, don’t be afraid to experiment! A more robust tomato-based sauce with a touch of coconut would beautifully complement the pasta’s unique flavor profile.

Crafting Your Own Culinary Masterpiece

I firmly believe that the joy of crafting extends beyond traditional art materials. Creating delicious and healthy meals from scratch is an art form in itself. And let me tell you, crafting this chia seed protein pasta was an incredibly rewarding experience.
